Have you ever made a distinction between your words and your Words with a capital W?
You may not have, but I bet you know what I mean…
Your words are everything you say.
But your Words with a capital W are the things you really mean.
The things you really stand behind. The hills you would die on. Your experiences, alchemised into something you’ve earned the right to say. Your Word isn’t just language. It’s the place where your life, your actions and your voice become coherent. That’s what gives it weight.
This distinction has been on my mind recently because I was thinking about how excited I was when the Wispr Flow app came out.
(If you don’t know, it’s a dictation app that turns speech into polished text)
But eventually something funky happened…
I stopped writing.
It feels silly to say, because I just published a book. That I human-wrote the hard way, with these little fingers.
But really, this AI revolution made me kind of lazy for a moment. It’s so easy to voice-command everything I want to say. But I’ve felt the gap of not writing.
Although I’m a great speaker, I don’t speak like I write. And I don’t write like I speak.
When I am writing, I’m thinking, they’re two different ways of relating to my Word.
Somewhere in the middle of this, I realised I’d been using one word to describe two very different things.
Your words are everything you say.
Your Word is made up of your promises, your boundaries, your commitments, your lived experiences alchemised. Everything your life is willing to stand behind.
Your Soul speaks through Word.
Beautiful words have never been easier to produce, AI can generate words all day long.
It’s possible to have beautiful words and very little Word.
You can say your family comes first.
You can say your health matters.
You can say integrity is important.
You can say you’re building a business to create freedom.
But if your calendar, your decisions and your life consistently tell a different story…
...your Word begins to weaken and you start losing trust in your own voice. And eventually, so does everyone else.
The power of your Word does not come from eloquence. It comes from the degree to which your life stands behind what you say. And where words become commodities, your Word has never been more valuable.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself to reconnect with your Word:
-
What do I say matters to me — and what does my life show actually matters?
-
What have I lived deeply enough that I’ve earned the right to speak about?
-
If someone ignored everything I said and only watched how I lived, what would they believe my Word was?
That last one will tell you a lot because your Word isn’t something you need to manufacture, it’s something your life is already revealing.
I keep reminding myself that the question isn’t what do I want to say?
It’s: what do I want my life to say?
With love,
Celinne 🤍
p.s. If you’re finding it difficult to stand behind your own Word, don’t start by searching for better words. Start by looking at the life underneath them.
Writing this reminded me why I created Business by Soul ®. It’s a self-paced program for you to go to reconnect to your values, your decisions, your mission and the business you’re building, so your life and your Word start moving in sync.
